Returning to civilian life after military service marks a new chapter—often filled with challenges. For many veterans, it’s about rediscovering their place in society, adjusting to a peaceful rhythm, and integrating their military experience into a professional path. At this stage, support from the community and employers plays a crucial role.
This topic was the focus of an open discussion organised by the MIM Business School on July 17, “Veterans and Business: Who and How Should Adapt?”
For Astarta, veteran reintegration is a strategic priority. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, we have been supporting our employees who serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their families. Today, we are entering a new phase by launching a comprehensive veteran reintegration program within our corporate and professional environment.
“Our main goal is to ensure a respectful and smooth return to civilian life, team adaptation, and professional fulfilment that considers the needs and experience of veterans. We follow the principle: ‘nothing about veterans without veterans’ — and they are directly involved in shaping the solutions,” — says Yuliia Yaroshenko, Project Lead for Veteran Reintegration at Astarta.
Key components of the program include:
- Physical well-being: rehabilitation, preventive medical check-ups, and sports activities.
- Mental health: psychological support for veterans and their families.
- Legal support: access to legal assistance.
- Education and retraining: skills development and professional training.
- Inclusion: creating a safe and veteran-informed workplace culture.
“Today, Astarta employs 135 veterans, and more than 600 of our colleagues currently serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We are preparing for their return — with dignity, respect, and a readiness to support,” Yuliia adds.
This project is not only about veterans — it’s about the whole team. We’ve already launched online learning modules for employees to foster a culture of mutual respect, understanding, stereotype-free interaction, and partnership in the workplace.
Astarta is building an environment where military experience is recognised as a strength, and returning to work becomes a growth path.
