In 2014, Astarta put into operation one of the largest bioenergy complexes in Ukraine, with a production capacity of over 50m m3 of biogas per year.

The raw materials for biogas production are by-products of sugar production (raw pulp) and organic waste from agricultural production. Biogas is an alternative substitute for natural gas for the agro-industrial holding’s soybean processing and sugar plants.

The plant is equipped with innovative equipment from the world’s leading manufacturers Börger GmbH (Germany), Streisal (Germany), Sulzer (Switzerland), Huning (Germany), Siemens (Germany), UTK (Ukraine), etc.

The project was implemented with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
