Astarta continues to develop its livestock segment in line with its long-term strategy. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the company has already invested over UAH410m in the modernisation of its enterprises.

‘During the war, livestock farming became a pillar of food security and economic sustainability of the business. In particular, we managed to compensate for the decline in exports under Russia’s blockade of seaports at the beginning of the full-scale invasion with milk processed and sold in Ukraine. Livestock farming is a long-term investment that requires a clear strategy and readiness to face the challenges that arise. That is why, despite the war, we continue to invest in production facilities that ensure high quality and safety of our products, creation of modern jobs, compliance with high standards of animal welfare and sustainable development of our subsidiaries,’ says Yaroslav Kushnir, the Director of Livestock Department at Astarta.

The company plans to continue consolidating and reconstructing existing facilities, building new ones, and working with breeding and genetics. These measures will enhance the segment’s economic efficiency, optimise livestock management, and increase herd productivity.

Astarta is the largest industrial milk producer in Ukraine. Its annual milk production was 115kt in 2023, and the cattle headcount is over 28k.
