Certification and Product Quality
One of the key elements of the company’s sustainability in business development is the quality and safety of its products. Astarta has developed a system to ensure food and feed safety by national requirements and international standards. The company monitors the risks associated with malicious spoilage of food products and vulnerability to counterfeit and falsified food products.
Astarta’s facilities are certified according to FSSC, ISO 22000, GMP+, ISCC+, ISO 9001, ISO 14000, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001. The company constantly monitors the quality and safety of its raw materials through national and international regulatory and technological documents (TU, DSTU, Council of Europe Directives, Codex Alimentarius, etc.) Control includes, among other things, analysis of GMOs, microbiological indicators, pesticides, radionuclides, etc.
The enterprises have raw material laboratories and production laboratories. An automated product flow control system supports the process. Finished products undergo mandatory quality control per the established requirements.
Astarta pays special attention to the quality and safety of milk production. The quality is controlled by the analysis of fat, protein, and water content, as well as milk density and temperature freezing point. Food safety control includes assessment of antibiotic use, cow health, quality and safety of feed, sanitary and hygienic requirements, temperature in tanks and temperature of milk coolers.
One of the company’s agricultural subsidiaries annually confirms its organic producer status and successfully passes certification according to the Organic Standard and Bio Suisse. The certification allows the company to sell organic products to the European Union.
Sugar and soybean processing plants and agricultural subsidiaries that grow raw materials for processing are certified by ISCC and ISCC PLUS certificates. Every year, auditors confirm the sustainability of raw materials and products by the EU RED and RED 2 Directives.
