Astarta started the 2025 harvesting campaign for winter crops. The farmers of its agricultural subsidiaries in the Poltava region were the first ones to begin harvesting.

This year’s campaign started nearly a week earlier than usual due to low rainfall in June and insufficient moisture reserves following the autumn-winter period. The company plans to harvest 46kha of winter wheat, 11kha of winter rapeseed, and 2.2kha of overwintering peas.

“The increase in overwintering pea acreage by 1.5kha compared to 2024, as well as delays in rapeseed ripening caused by spring cold spells, may result in the simultaneous ripening of all winter crops. It will pressure logistics, machinery, and storage infrastructure across all our operational regions. However, the Astarta team is fully prepared to meet these challenges. Around 200 grain harvesters and over 400 transport units will be engaged in the campaign. This technical capacity allows us to collect and deliver the harvest efficiently and on time,” said Andriy Zahorulko, the Director of Crop Production, Logistics and Mechanisation at Astarta.

This season, the company also emphasises logistics efficiency and safety, particularly through AgriChain Logistics, a digital IT platform that manages the logistics of both material resources and finished products.

“We fully leverage the AgriChain Logistics online system to organise and support our logistics operations. It enables transparent and efficient management of the entire logistics cycle — from transport planning to route mapping and dispatch coordination,” added Mr Zahorulko.

As part of implementing sustainable practices aligned with ISCC EU certification standards, Astarta is adopting a no-desiccation approach to rapeseed cultivation. This practice helps reduce production costs while maintaining high yield performance.
