LLC «Lyst-Rychky» has passed third inspection for organic farming certification
The subsidiary of ASTARTA, LLC «Lyst-Rychky» has successfully passed third annual inspection under Organic Standard, Ukrainian national certification authority for organic farming. Organic Standard assured that the produce of LLC assured that the produce of LLC «Lyst-Rychky» corresponds to the requirements of organic farming for transitional period.
ASTARTA started organic farming project at LLC «Lyst-Rychky» in 2017, stepping into 3-years certification process. Consequently, in the following year LLC «Lyst-Rychky» is likely to obtain the status of the certified producer of organic crops.
During these 3 years the farming unit of ASTARTA has been adjusting technologies and crop rotation to the organic farming standards, without application of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. The Company invested in acquisition of special machinery for the soil cultivation and aeration and mechanical protection from weeds.
Zeljko Erceg, Head of agricultural production division, comments:
«In 2020 we expect to get the first certified harvest and start exporting our organic produce to EU countries. LLC “Lyst-Rychky” grows on the area of 1817 ha the following crops: wheat, barley, oat, corn, buckwheat and 30% of areas are cultivatedunder beans and perennial grasses as a part of organic farming requirements. This crop portfolio will remain stable. Further development of this project envisages storage modernization being another important factor of organic certification».
LLC «Lyst-Rychky» cultivates 1817 ha in Hadiach district of Poltava region. In 2017 ASTARTA nominated it as the pilot project of organic farming and certification.
