Environment Protection

Ecological and social responsibility is one of the most important direction of the agro-industrial holding ASTARTA. This direction is an inalienable part of the Company’s mission and strategy, which is expanding and becoming more efficient every year. The Company has developed a Policy on quality, food safety, occupational safety, industrial safety, environmental protection and energy management based on the following principles:

  • ensuring responsible activity in accordance with the regulatory requirements and legislation of Ukraine in the sphere of occupational safety, industrial safety and environmental protection;
  • improving industrial safety by ensuring continuous technical control over production and usage of the best techniques to improve working conditions and enhance safety;
  • ensuring sustainable development of the Company through the introduction of new environmentally friendly technology, reducing emissions and waste at each stage of production;
  • cooperating with stakeholders and the local community concerning the Company's activities in the sphere of environmental protection;
  • teaching, holding professional training and increasing employee qualifications in OHS and environmental protection.


The agro-industrial holding ASTARTA is enhancing the environmentally safe growth of its enterprises and investing into continuous improvement in production technology, and heading towards great results by means of environmental, social and corporate development of the Company. Specialists from the ecological, OHS and certification departments have developed a number of environmental programs, including:

Program of replacing asbestos materials in order to minimize risks associated with or might be associated with health and safety.

Program of withdrawing from usage and replacing R22 freon with safe gases, according to the Montreal Protocol, at some agricultural firms.

Integrated controlling programs for pests / diseases (crop protection substances):

  • rational use of crop protection substances;
  • refusal to use Ia and Ib class substances according to WHO data.


Programs for developing relationships with stakeholders, holding public hearings, conducting environmental impact assessment (EIA), etc.

The company is open, transparent and shows its social and environmental activity in annual reports. In addition, ASTARTA takes part in such international initiatives as:

  • United Nations Global Compact, since 2009
  • Corporate Social Responsibility center, since 2012



ASTARTA cares about the environment, quality and safety of its products, environment industrial safety and energy efficiency which is governed by its Corporate Integrated Management System.

The Corporate Integrated Management System was introduced in 2011 in order to achieve the best results and increase efficiency at each level of the Company. Corporate Integrated Management System for quality, product safety, labour and environment protection as well as energy management is based on the international standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 22000, ISO 50001. This enables the Company to apply common principles and approaches to ensure safety for all kind of activities. A number of the Company’s enterprises have introduced the following international standards.
